You’ve done your part by honestly meeting the requirements of the job for which you applied. The question now is whether or not the company meets your needs. You have to make this determination and there are several things you can do to aid your decision–making process.
Interview your prospective boss. There are ways to answer questions to cast yourself in a good light. Six questions you might ask are:
- What is the advancement path for this position?
- How many others on staff do what I will be doing?
- Will I be training with my predecessor?
- What is the company’s policy for ongoing training?
- What personal skills do you place great value on?
- How did this position become available?
- I need someone who can be really calm under pressure.
- I need someone who can get along with diverse personalities.
- I need someone who I can count on to be a team player.
